Effects of plasma treatment on surface insulation properties of epoxy composites

Abstract The surface of epoxy composite material working in DC electric field for a long time is easy to accumulate charge and cause flashover, which seriously reduces its insulation level poses threat the safe operation electrical equipment. In this study, SiO x films were deposited on nano-SiO 2 /ER nanoparticles by atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge plasma vapor deposition technology using ethyl nor-silicate as precursor. effects different effect film studied. Scanning electron microscope atomic force used characterize morphology material, flashover voltage before after was measured. results show that thicknesses can be formed at times deposition. After extending film, becomes more uniform dense, roughness decreases continuously, conductivity along increases continuously. 10 min treatment, increased from 1.78×10 −16 S 2.3×10 −13 S, while 19.29 kV 22.66 kV, an increase about 17.5%.
